Dr Jen Nguyen

Clinical Psychologist in North London, UK

Welcome to my practice.

I’m Jen Nguyen, an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist offering online therapy to clients in London and across the UK.

My work in the NHS has taken me from community teams to acute crisis care, and I’ve worked with people across a wide range of cultures and life stages. For me, the fulfilment and joy in my work come from witnessing the power of human resilience, the healing potential of relationships, and the ever-changing nature of the mind.

I believe that healing, although often non-linear, is possible for everyone, and that recovery is underpinned by an honest, non-judgmental, and empowering relationship. If you’re looking for a space to understand yourself more deeply, work through difficulty, or make meaningful changes in your life, I’d love to hear from you.

My background is Vietnamese, and I am passionate about supporting people from Southeast Asian and East Asian communities. If you’d like to know more about how I can support you, please see below regarding how I work and what I can offer.

How I work

I believe therapy is about understanding, change, and choices.

In our first meeting, I aim to explore and learn more about your life story, your achievements and struggles, and what you’d like to focus on in our work together. If you’re unsure what therapy will involve, I’m happy to talk you through my approach so you can decide whether I’m a good fit for you. If I think you might benefit more from support elsewhere, I’ll signpost you to the right resources.

Throughout our work together, I hope to see and understand you as a whole person, not only your mental health. I want to work with you in a way that emphasises who you are and who you want to be, and supports you in embracing both the ups and downs of life.

Most importantly, I believe transformation often comes through relationships built on trust, respect, and honesty. I won’t tell you what to do, but I can help you explore the patterns that have kept you stuck and consider more helpful ways forward. I don’t shy away from difficult truths or the painful, conflicting aspects of human emotion, and I’ll be with you as we work to tolerate distress and develop a new understanding of yourself, whatever that may be.

I can offer support for:

  • Depression and low mood

  • Low self-esteem

  • Anxiety

  • Stress

  • Intense, conflicting, and painful emotional experiences (anger, shame, grief)

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Work and family problems

  • Relational and attachment trauma

I work with adults aged 18 and over, and all sessions are currently delivered online. I offer appointments on Saturdays and Sundays. You can find more details about my fees and relevant practicalities here.

If you’re unsure whether what you’re experiencing fits, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and we can talk it through together. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation where we can discuss what’s bringing you to therapy and explore whether I might be a good fit for you.
